Austin Studio Tour returns this November with a free, self-guided way to see how local art is made. Organized by Almost Real Things, the 24th annual tour takes place over two weekends: Saturday and Sunday, November 14–15, and Saturday and Sunday, November 21–22, from 11 AM to 5 PM each day. Instead of following one fixed route, visitors can browse artist profiles online or use the printed Guidebook to plan a personal circuit through studios, galleries, and other creative spaces across Austin.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

The format is straightforward: choose a few stops, meet artists where they work, and spend time with the tools, materials, and pieces that usually stay behind closed doors. Visitors can also buy art directly from participating artists. The 2025 tour included 723 participants at 317 locations, giving some idea of the event’s scale without requiring anyone to cover the whole city in one weekend.
A central place to begin is The Canopy, at 916 Springdale Road. The former Goodwill warehouse now holds artist studios, galleries, creative offices, retail spaces, courtyards, and Sa-ten Cafe. It is also home to the Artist Showcase at Almost Real Things Studios & Gallery, where more than 40 guest artists join 18 resident artists. The showcase includes original work and vendors offering pieces such as ceramics and stained glass. It is open to all ages, with free parking, refreshments, and music listed as part of the experience.
The Canopy sits within the Govalle Cultural District, an East Austin arts district formally designated by the City of Austin in June 2025. The area includes creative organizations and youth programs alongside spaces such as The Museum of Human Achievement, 979 Springdale, and Govalle Elementary. During the tour, the district offers a useful way to think about the event beyond individual galleries: several creative communities are connected within the same part of town, while the wider tour extends to studios elsewhere in Austin.
Motion Media Arts Center is adding four free, hands-on events to the 2026 program. Plans include a media arts exhibition in The Canopy’s Black Box Studio, a celluloid workshop for young people at Govalle Elementary, a family Super 8 filming session, and a panel and mixer with media artists. Sign-up details are being shared through the organization’s newsletter. No film experience or personal equipment is required for these activities.
For a first visit, The Canopy provides a compact starting point, while the online profiles and Guidebook can help shape a longer route across Austin. The tour is free, but the experience depends on choosing how much ground to cover and which working spaces you want to understand more closely. With two November weekends available, visitors can also split their plans rather than trying to see everything at once.
