Whitney Bjerken

Whitney Bjerken plays Alter Ego Showcase on Monday, October 19. She's an alternative pop singer-songwriter from right here in Atlanta, and this is a headlining set.

If you haven't come across her yet, there's a bit of a story to how she ended up here. Bjerken is 21 and spent years as a nationally ranked gymnast before turning to music. She's been writing and recording since she was twelve, and she talks about channeling the discipline and intensity she learned in the sport into her songwriting. That background comes through in the way she builds her songs—they're not just sketches, they're worked-over pieces of music.

Her sound sits in that alternative pop space, combining dark, atmospheric production with dance-pop elements. She draws from her own life, her dreams, and her imagination, and she describes the result as emotive and introspective. It's the kind of pop that leans into the moodier side of things rather than just the hook.

She's played across Atlanta, including opening sets for Dean Lewis and Forest Blakk, and she continues to release music as an independent artist. This show at Alter Ego Showcase is on Monday, October 19, with Whitney Bjerken as the main feature.
