Cinematic concert bringing the iconic Waiting to Exhale soundtrack to life with live vocals and the film on screen, part of the Coca-Cola Film Series.
Waiting to Exhale in Concert comes to The Fox Theatre on Friday, November 6, as part of The Coca-Cola Film Series. It's a cinematic concert that brings the film and its 1990s soundtrack to life: the movie plays on the big screen while a live band and a lineup of vocalists perform the score in real time. Thirty years after its release, the film is still a cultural touchstone, and the show works its way through favorites like "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," "Sittin' Up In My Room," "Not Gon' Cry," "Let It Flow," and "Count On Me."
The vocalists on the bill are Avery*Sunshine, Alexia Jayy, Jekalyn Carr, The Amours, and Melanie Fiona. They're backed by a full live band led by music director, producer, and musician Adam Blackstone. With the film running on the screen and the music performed live, the whole thing functions as a sing-along with the movie playing along.
