Free Latin American music concert by All Together Now, with pianist Mengyuan Li, guitarist John Huston and a guest conductor, opening the 2026-27 season.
All Together Now opens its 2026-27 season with Viva las Américas at the Church at Wieuca on Sunday, October 18. The concert kicks off the ensemble's new journey, which they've built around the idea of shared identity. Rather than framing the Americas as a single people, culture, or tradition, the program presents them as many histories, nations, communities, rhythms, and voices existing alongside one another. The idea they're working with is that coming together doesn't require surrendering what makes each of us distinct, and that many voices can become one experience.
The program brings together composers from across the hemisphere: Moncayo, Gershwin, Rodrigo, Ginastera, and Márquez. It's a wide reach, with Moncayo's Mexican sounds, Gershwin's American songbook, Rodrigo's Spanish guitar, Ginastera's Argentine intensity, and Márquez's contemporary Mexican flair all sharing the same stage. On the performing side, pianist Mengyuan Li and guitarist John Huston lead the way, with a guest conductor joining from the Adrian Gnam International Conductors Workshop & Competition.
