Tank and the Bangas perform The Last Balloon, the final entry in their balloon trilogy, live at Terminal West.
Tank and the Bangas bring The Last Balloon Tour to Terminal West on Thursday, October 15, with Ariel J. and Zeus opening. The New Orleans collective is touring The Last Balloon, the final part of a balloon trilogy that started with Green Balloon and continued with 2022's Red Balloon. The album was executive-produced by Austin Brown and recorded mostly at The Complex Studios in Los Angeles, with contributions from Iman Omari, Lucky Daye, Ledisi, and Jelly Joseph.
Frontwoman Tarriona 'Tank' Ball and multi-instrumentalist Norman Spence II lead the group, and their sound pulls from funk, hip-hop, and horn-inflected R&B. They've picked up a GRAMMY for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for 2024's The Heart, The Mind, The Soul, and earned a Best New Artist nomination for Green Balloon back in 2019. Their live shows are known for being interactive, with plenty of gang vocals and handclaps, so it's the kind of set where you're expected to join in rather than just watch from the back.
