Texas country-rockers Silverada perform live with The Pink Stones opening at Terminal West.
Silverada play Terminal West on Saturday, October 17, with The Pink Stones opening. It's a stop on their Living Proof Tour, and if the name doesn't ring a bell, it's because it's new: this is the Texas country-rock band formerly known as Mike and the Moonpies.
Frontman Mike Harmeier started the group in his early twenties and fronted it under that name from 2008 until 2024. They cut their teeth on Austin's dancehall circuit, a workingman's country band that eventually took their sound far beyond Texas. Along the way, they recorded Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold at Abbey Road Studios with the London Symphony Orchestra and played the Grand Ole Opry. The current lineup — Harmeier with drummer Taylor Englert, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton — rebranded to match their ninth release, the album Silverada, which they recorded at Yellow Dog Studios with producer Adam Odor.
That record comes from Harmeier's backyard-studio writing process, and he's open about what went into it: Jeff Tweedy's songwriting books, astronomy texts, and sci-fi novels. It features fiddle from Gene Elders, a George Strait collaborator. The show is part of the Living Proof Tour, so you'll hear the new material alongside the older songs they've carried through the years.
