Shalamar brings their signature blend of R&B, funk, disco and pop to City Winery, performing their greatest hits.
Shalamar play City Winery Atlanta on Friday, October 16, with two shows that night: one at 6 PM and another at 9:30 PM. Doors open at 5 PM. The Atlanta date is presented by City Winery and KISS 104.1, and it's sold out.
Shalamar's sound is a blend of R&B, funk, disco, and pop that helped define the dance music of the late '70s and early '80s. They've sold 25 million records worldwide and are billed as one of the most successful soul acts of all time. The set draws on hits like "A Night To Remember," "The Second Time Around," "I Can Make You Feel Good," and "Make That Move."
The lineup features Howard Hewett, described as one of the greatest singers of all time, and Jeffrey Daniel, who is credited with introducing body popping and moonwalking to international audiences and mentoring Michael Jackson during the early evolution of his dance style. They're joined by Carolyn Griffey, daughter of SOLAR Records founder Dick Griffey, and together they continue to honor the music's history. The tour is called the Greatest Hits Tour, and it's presented as a run of non-stop hits balanced with silky-smooth ballads.
