Concert by Quadeca (Ben Lasky) on his Life 1 tour, with Derby and Oleka as opening acts.
Quadeca plays The Masquerade on Friday, October 16, with Derby and Oleka opening. The show is part of his North American tour for Life 1, his fifth album. He's twenty-four now, and this is his first time playing the Heaven room at the venue.
Quadeca is the stage name of Ben Lasky, who picked it out during preschool recess when naming an imaginary superhero alter-ego. By ten, he'd taken on the task that would become the central focus of his career: building one-of-a-kind worlds through self-produced music and visuals. Life 1 follows 2025's Vanisher, Horizon Scraper, and while the album's release date hasn't been announced yet, he's already put out the singles "Dark Magic" and "Baby Steps."
The latest single, "Hell of a Time," points toward where the new material is heading: a heavily layered sound built around a drum machine beat, piano flourishes, and auto-tuned vocals. It's a different direction from his earlier work, and this tour is the first chance to hear it live. He's played Fuji Rock Festival and Lollapalooza, so he's no stranger to the festival circuit, but this is a club date.
