The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presents a concert of French opera arias conducted by Victor Jacob, featuring works from Carmen and Roméo et Juliette.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is bringing a night of French opera to Atlanta Symphony Hall on Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 5, 2026. Both performances start at 8 PM. The program is built around some of the most recognizable melodies from the French operatic tradition, and it's part of the orchestra's 2026/27 Delta Classical Series under Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann.
Leading the evening is Victor Jacob, a French singer who transitioned to conducting and is known for handling this repertoire with panache. He's paired with two soloists: tenor Julien Behr, making his debut with the ASO, and soprano Jasmine Habersham. The program draws its biggest moments from Bizet's Carmen and Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, and it fills in the gaps with Offenbach's Overture to Orphée aux enfers and selections from Les contes d'Hoffmann, Bertin's Overture to Fausto, and Thomas's Overture to Mignon. It's a broad sweep of the French stage, from the high drama of Carmen and Roméo et Juliette to the lighter, more spirited overtures that open the other works.

Beyond the main stage, there's a pre-concert chamber performance that runs before the evening begins, so if you arrive early, you'll get a smaller-scale look at the music before the full orchestra takes over. The whole thing falls under the ASO's 2026/27 Delta Classical Series, which is one of the ways the orchestra organizes its season. If you're already a subscriber, this is one of the nights you've likely already got on your calendar; if not, it's a standalone evening of French opera arias and overtures. The performances are December 3 and 5 at 8 PM at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
