A collaborative community sewing event where local makers bring works-in-progress to socialise, swap tips and complete garments, with sewing machines and refreshments provided.
Mood Fabrics is opening its doors for another Mood Sewciety Meetup on Thursday, October 15, from 5 PM to 8 PM. It's an open sewing session, and the whole thing is built around a simple idea: you bring in whatever project you're currently working on—a half-finished dress, a quilt in progress, a textile piece that's been sitting in a bin—and spend the evening working on it alongside other local makers. It's as much about the company as the sewing, with people swapping tips and chatting while they move their garments a bit closer to completion.
They're welcoming everyone from seasoned designers to hobbyists, so you don't need to be a pro to fit in. The room is stocked with notions and cutting mats available to buy on the spot if you realize you're missing something, and they serve complimentary light refreshments throughout the night. Every other week, live musical performances round off the evening, which adds a nice bit of energy to the room while everyone's sewing.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Atlanta and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

If you don't have your own machine, there are seven Bernette London 7 sewing machines on hand, available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you're relying on one of theirs, it's worth getting there early. Bringing your own machine is optional, and the session is part of a series that includes dates on June 18 and October 29, 2026, so if you can't make this one, there are others to aim for. The meetup is free for general admission and takes place at the Mood Fabrics Showroom in Atlanta, on the second floor, Suite N216, 675 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30308.
