Acoustic R&B, soul and folk show by singer-songwriter Justin Nozuka at Altar at The Masquerade.
Justin Nozuka plays The Masquerade on Friday, October 30, at 7 PM. He'll be performing in the Altar room, one of the venue's smaller stages, which fits the kind of set he's known for.
Nozuka is a singer-songwriter and producer born in Queens, New York, and raised in Toronto, Canada. He's built his name on an intimate, acoustic style, and he's been at it for nearly 20 years. His music pulls from a few different places—R&B, soul, folk, and rock—and he tends to weave them together rather than keeping them separate. That acoustic lean is a good starting point for what to expect: it's more of a singer-songwriter night than a big production.
He's worked with a fair range of artists over the years, including Mahalia, River Tiber, RZA, India Arie, Zacari, and Russ. More recently, he's been putting out lo-fi releases and just came off a fully sold-out unplugged tour. This Atlanta stop is part of a 21-city North American tour, so he's bringing the same set he's been playing across the continent.

If you're not familiar, the lo-fi and unplugged descriptions give you a pretty clear idea of the vibe: stripped-back, focused on the voice and the guitar, and more about the songs than the spectacle. It's the kind of show that works well in a room like the Altar, where you're close enough to actually hear the lyrics.
