The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performs John Williams' Harry Potter music and other spooky orchestral treats for children, part of the Family Concerts series.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra brings Family Concert: Halloween, Hogwarts & More to Atlanta Symphony Hall on Sunday, October 25, with two performances at 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM. Each one runs about 45 minutes, so you can pick the time that fits your afternoon. The whole thing is free.
Resident Conductor and ASYO Music Director William R. Langley leads the full orchestra, with director and producer Amanda Lee Williams and actors Allison Salinger and Karen Cassady on stage. The program opens with John Williams' Harry's Wondrous World from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and from there it moves through Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours from La gioconda, Anna Clyne's Masquerade, Britten's Storm from Four Sea Interludes, Mendelssohn's Scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walküre. It's a mix of movie music, classical staples, and a few pieces that fit the Halloween theme.
This is part of the ASO's Family Concerts series, a three-concert season run by Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann and aimed at children 12 and under. The idea is to introduce young audiences to the full orchestra by pairing classical music with live theatre and pre-concert activities. Each concert is preceded by a festival that includes an Instrument Exploration Station in partnership with The Gift of Music, arts and crafts, and photo booths.

The 2026/27 series also includes Winter Wonderland on December 6 and Peter and the Wolf on May 2, 2027. Subscription tickets to the three-concert series save 30% compared to buying them separately. For this one, though, the performances are at 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 25, and they're free.
