Holiday concert in which the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Norman Mackenzie, weave carols, hymns and festive favourites into the Christmas story.
Christmas with the ASO returns to Atlanta Symphony Hall this December, a seasonal tradition for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. The program weaves together carols, hymns, and festive favorites into the Christmas story, and audiences are invited to sing along.
On stage, the ASO and its chorus are joined by the Morehouse College Glee Club, conducted by David Morrow, and the Spivey Hall Children's Choir, directed by Craig Hurley. Norman Mackenzie conducts the orchestra and chorus. The ASO Chorus was founded by Robert Shaw and is now directed by Mackenzie; it has appeared on nine of the orchestra's 27 Grammy Award-winning recordings.
Under Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann, the ASO presents more than 150 concerts a year, including the Coca-Cola Holiday Series, the Invesco Movies in Concert series, and the Delta Classical Series. This particular program is part of that holiday run.
