Jazz concert by the Grammy-winning pianist Bill Charlap and his trio at the Rialto Center for the Arts, part of the Rialto Series.
The Bill Charlap Trio plays the Rialto Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 27, 2027, at 8 PM. It's part of the Rialto Series, and the bill is just the trio.
Bill Charlap is a Grammy Award-winning pianist from New York, known for a refined style and a deep connection to the American songbook. He's played with some of the most respected names in jazz: Phil Woods, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole, and Houston Person. Beyond the stage, he's produced concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Chicago Symphony Center, and the Hollywood Bowl. Time magazine once wrote that he "approaches a song the way a lover approaches his beloved... no matter how imaginative or surprising his take on a song is, he invariably zeroes in on its essence."
The trio format puts his technical precision and emotional depth on display, and the set will be built around the American songbook. It's a sophisticated, intimate jazz experience—the kind of show that works best when you can hear the conversation between the piano, bass, and drums.
