Immersive audiovisual concert in which Christopher O'Riley plays Bach at the piano while high-resolution cosmic imagery from NASA and the ESA fills the screen.
Christopher O'Riley brings Bach in Space to Variety Playhouse on Sunday, December 13, at 4 PM. It's a piano performance of Bach's work paired with high-resolution cosmic imagery from NASA and the European Space Agency, and the whole thing runs about 75 minutes.
The program pulls from some of Bach's most recognized keyboard writing: excerpts from The Well-Tempered Clavier, the Italian Concerto, and the Goldberg Variations. O'Riley is at the piano for the duration, and the visuals are crafted to follow the phrasing, dynamics, and rhythmic flow of the music, so the imagery shifts and evolves along with the playing rather than just running in the background. It's presented as an immersive audiovisual experience—live classical piano and space imagery working together.
The show is recommended for ages 6 and up, so it's one you can bring kids to. It's presented by Alegria Konzert GmbH.
